Even though it sounds as if Trump might be temporarily lifting the ban on TikTok as one of his first acts when he returns to office, there are a lot of people saying that in order to regain access they need to use a VPN. I have no doubt that this will lead to shady VPN clients being installed along with apps pretending to be, or provide access to TikTok, all ending up harming user privacy even more than TikTok’s famed intrusive tracking.

I understand that TikTok aren’t preventing access based on the users current geolocation, rendering VPNs that “change your location” pointless in this instance, I believe they are using the account data provided at signup so US users currently anywhere else in the world will be locked out.

Whichever way US access to TikTok goes, please, PLEASE don’t try and get around it at the moment, you could end up unknowingly leaking your data to bad actors!
